BONUS: The Prussian Factory Roots of American Education

This week on the main show we're talking about educational paradigms, and the shift from large classrooms to individuated schooling.

So let's set the stage by contextualizing American education. Starting as parochial outlets, American schooling fully developed as a corollary to an agricultural society. Then, at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, we switched to a factory-style system... directly imported from Prussia. To produce soldiers. And obedience.

Today we're going to talk about how we wound up importing Prussian education models and then intentionally replicated them through the country. The benefits of that system... and the rather authoritarian overtones.

Then on the main feed, what models might better suit our current era. Enjoy!
